A positive

customer experience

ALPR as a vector of optimization and satisfaction

Company

Société Coopérative Migros Genève is the second largest private employer in the canton. As a dynamic partner of the regional economy, it is essential to France-Vaud-Geneva development, because its radius of activity extends beyond the cantonal borders in Vaud territory as far as Gland (district of Nyon) as well as in neighbouring France. Major player in the retail trade, Migros Genève employs more than 3,000 people, serving 30 million customers a year, in 40 stores.

Need

The cooperative manages more than 2,000 parking spots spread over 15 car parks, with a triple problem of:

  1. securing access to the distribution hub, with logistics and employee flows
  2. optimization of parking and hunting unauthorized vehicles
  3. smoother rotations in car parks for store customers

Solution

The deployment of an automated license plate recognition solution allows Migros Genève to solve its three problems, and in addition with the removal of access barriers:

  • lower investment and operating costs (maintenance and interventions on the barriers)
  • enhanced traffic flow
  • elimination of paper tickets
  • a positive customer experience: “we are no longer in a blocking logic”

« We want parking to be free for our customers, but limited in time. By measuring vehicle parking times, we can ensure this reception and effectively protect the spaces reserved for our customers against any abuse. »
